People First was started in October 2004 by Connie Robinson.
Connie Robinson Owner of People First, began her career at 19 by providing direct care to members. Over the years she has seen a shift in the focus of companies from the actual care of themembers to maintaining profits. In 2004 she resigned her administrative position and set about opening a business that would bring the focus back to where it belongs-with the people, and PeopleFirst was created. This attitude is extended not only to the members but also the families and the caregivers who work with them.
Chantel Rotteger joins People First as the Adult/Child Developmental Home Coordinator. She started in the field as a high school volunteer in 2001 at a summer camp in Williams, AZ for children and adults with developmental disabilities. She has been in many positions from direct care, Supervisor of a State Operated Intermediate Care Facility, a Division of Developmental Disabilities Network Residential Coordinator, and a previous foster to adopt mom with a child who utilizes DDD services. Chantel has the confidence and knowledge in assisting families and our members at People First, and is a wonderful addition to the People First team.
Rene Winchester is our Coordinator for Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), Rene began her caregiving career as a direct care worker. She brings not only these skills but compassion and leadership to our team.
Joline Whitaker joins our team as the Executive Director, with her 15 years of experience in Direct Care Services, seven years as a Day Program Lead Staff / Activities Coordinator, and experience as a Transition to Employment Counselor in our community. She is excited about being a part of the People First team. As Program Director she develops fun and innovative Continuing Education Training, and will be the trainer for Article 9 training. Joline works closely with families, caregivers, and administration, to bring quality education and training to a our staff.
Ric Soutar our Office Manager comes to us with 13 years experience in both costumer service and as an Administrative Assistant. He will most likely be your first contact here at People First. He has proven to be efficient and very organized. We are pleased to have Ric join our team.
Together with all of the wonderful caregivers who provide service, we make up People First. A team dedicated to providing the best possible care to members and their families, following the adage... "Do what you love and success will follow."
